Is Bad Cards free?
Yes. The game is free, you do not need an account to join one, and nobody has to pay for the rest of the group to play. There are extra card packs to buy and a subscription if you want all of them, but you never have to.
Is Bad Cards like Cards Against Humanity?
It is the same shape of game: someone reads a prompt, everyone answers with a card from their hand, and whoever is judging picks the one that made them laugh hardest. Bad Cards is an independent game with its own cards and modes, and is not affiliated with Cards Against Humanity LLC. People looking for a Jackbox-style night in the browser land here too, without a TV setup.
Do I need to download anything?
No download. It is a browser party game on a phone, laptop or tablet, and inside Discord as an activity.
Can we play on our phones?
Yes. Open bad.cards in a browser on your phone. Each person uses their own phone or laptop. Play with friends in the same room or far apart. Nobody installs an app.
How many people can play?
Three to sixteen in one game. Three is enough to start. Sixteen is the cap. Smaller groups get more turns. A large group of friends fits in one game.
Can we play on Discord?
Yes. Bad Cards runs as a Discord activity, so the game happens inside the voice channel without anyone leaving.
How rude does it get?
That is up to whoever starts the game. Every pack carries a content rating and the host sets the ceiling before the first round, so the same group can play it as a party game for adults or keep the rating down for a mixed room.
Can I make my own cards?
Yes, and most people do eventually. There is a pack editor on your account, and your friends can play a pack you wrote without buying anything. Those are custom cards in your own pack.
How long does a game take?
About fifteen minutes. Rounds take a minute or two and you choose how many rounds when you start.
